Veteran television host added to Starlight Gatsby Gala

STILLWATER, Okla. — Rob McClendon, host and executive producer of the nationally televised “Oklahoma Horizon” television show, will host the Stillwater Medical Center Foundation’s Starlight Gatsby Gala at 6 p.m. Friday at the Wes Watkins Center on the Oklahoma State University campus. Foundation board member Beverly Wells is chairing the fundraiser gala.

A longtime resident of Stillwater, McClendon travels the state, the nation, and internationally, showcasing people and businesses that contribute to Oklahoma’s economic success.

“The Starlight Gala is our largest annual fundraising event,” Wells said. “The foundation is hard at work to fund the construction of a new warm water pool facility, scheduled to be built on 12th Street, for Stillwater Medical Center.”

The warm water pool will allow staff to work with patients of all ages, providing them freedom to move without pain and discomfort and increasing their quality of life. Community members can also benefit from strengthening gained during warm water exercise classes.

“The foundation believes that excellence means putting patients first. It’s the starting point from which all decisions and investments emanate,” said Teresa Hopkins, executive director. “We are incredibly grateful to our many supporters. The warm water pool is the largest project undertaken by the SMC Foundation in its 30-year history.”

Hopkins said a lead gift for the project was provided through the estate of Eva Belle Hines.

“Eva Belle loved our medical center and gave many hours of service as a volunteer,” Hopkins said. “Her bequest started this project. The foundation is working to raise a minimum of $1.5 million for the pool.”

Tickets for the Starlight Gatsby Gala can be purchased online at, or by phoning 405-742-5387. The evening includes dinner, music entertainment and dancing, and live and silent auction events.
