Two arrested in Cushing drug sting

STILLWATER, Okla. — A Cushing couple was arrested Thursdsay after police obtained a search warrant and discovered methamphetamine in their home near Cushing Memorial Park.

Allen Lee Harmon, 54, and Rita Faye Harmon, 56, were booked into the Payne County Jail on complaints of endeavoring to manufacture methamphetamine within 2,000 feet of a park, and possession of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a park and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police reports.

Prior to the arrest, officers from Cushing police, the Payne County Sheriff’s Department and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs conducted a monthlong investigation.

“This is another example of agencies working together for the greater good of the citizens of Cushing and Payne County, through the removal of these illegal drugs and people from our streets,” said Cushing Police Chief Tully Folden.

While searching the property, police seized drug paraphernalia and a white powdery substance from the house that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Other numerous items related to manufacturing meth were found in the garage and trash can. Some portions will be sent to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Laboratory to be analyzed further.

Both remain in jail. Allen Harmon’s bail has been set at $50,000 and Rita Harmon’s bail is $30,000.
