STILLWATER, Okla. — A man who fled from Payne County Sheriff's deputies Aug. 19 was arrested later in Tulsa County.

Anthony Dale Straughn Jr., 27, led deputies on a pursuit that started near Stallard Street and Scott Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. Aug. 19. The driver stopped the car in grass near Virginia Avenue and Manning Street and ran.

Marijuana residue and two straws with a white powdery substance inside were found in the car, law enforcement agents said. A deputy initiated the stop because the car crossed the center line, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Straughn was charged Aug. 25 with possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm and attempting to elude law enforcement. He was arrested Tuesday.

The affidavit states Bridgett Baron, a passenger in the car, told deputies the driver told her to throw a gun out the car window. The man said he would kill her if she didn't obey, the affidavit states.

A .380-caliber pistol was found near Virginia Avenue and Stallard Street.

The straws with the powder were sent to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for drug testing.
