STILLWATER, Okla. — More than 1,000 people crowded into the Payne County Expo Center on Tuesday night to sample some of Stillwater’s tastiest cuisines and support Stillwater Public Schools.

Stillwater Public Education Foundation officials estimate its 16th annual spring fundraiser — Taste of Stillwater — could net as much as $12,000 for Stillwater schools.

Jenifer Bartley, the foundation’s executive director, said the foundation will know the exact number of people who attended and the total money raised when the figures are tabulated.

“We are just so pleased with the support from the community over the years,” Bartley said. “It just continues to be a big success.”

“I would bet this is our best turnout ever,” Stillwater Superintendent Ann Caine said.

Caine said 36 businesses had booths at the Expo Center.

“That says a lot about our community that we have 36 restaurants willing to donate ... so that we can raise a minimum of $10,000 that goes right directly back in the classroom.”

The Foundation awarded $8,400 in grants during the spring allocations.
