1. Six plays will be performed at the Sheerar Museum to help raise money for Judith Karman Hospice. The Shorts Festival is in its second year, and Troupe d’Jour, a group of local actors, will bring the plays to life. The six plays vary in genre and are sponsored by a local business. Hospice volunteer coordinator Valerie Zayat-Bloodgood said all six plays incorporate a common theme, “just around the corner.”
2. Zayat-Bloodgood said you won’t want to miss this event.
“On Sunday we will be awarding the People’s Choice Award,” Zayat-Bloodgood said. “We will have six pairs of shorts and the title of the plays on each pair, and then people can donate money to vote.”
3. “Stuff Your Shorts” is a fun way to to help out JKH. The People’s Choice Award will be awarded to the playwright that recieves the most in donations after the last performance.
“To me, as far as people going to see the performance, the highlight is the People’s Choice Award, but overall, I really feel the highlight is the fact that so many people from this community come together to do a fabulous service for an organization,” Zayat-Bloodgood said.
Pledge your support to a good cause this weekend. The Shorts Festival is sure to entertain, and the benefit it gives to those in need is invaluable.
“It’s going to be this Saturday and Sunday,” Zayat-Bloodgood said. “Saturday evenings performance is at 7:30, and the 2:30 performance is on Sunday.”
