STILLWATER, Okla. —
The city of Stillwater is holding a public meeting for those who live or own property in the West College Addition to discuss an upcoming sewer replacement project, which is scheduled to begin construction Oct. 20 and run through summer 2014.
The come-and-go public meeting will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Pi Beta Phi Sorority House, 324 S. Cleveland Street. Staff will be available to answer questions about all phases of the project, such as how it will affect parking, trash service and sewer service.
This project will affect 11 city blocks in the area north of Sixth Avenue to and including Fourth Avenue, along Walnut, Pine, Gray, Stanley and Blakely streets, as well as Fourth Avenue, from Blakely to Jefferson.
Work will include the installation of new sewer lines that will run along the residential streets instead of the rear property lines.
Contractors will need to work in private yards to reroute the service lines from the old sewer line to the new sewer line. Sewer service should be interrupted only for a matter of hours for each individual residence as service is switched to the new public main.
Project manager Brandon Neal said, “To install the new public mains, we will need to close the street on each block for two to three weeks. The City will coordinate the sewer service work with each resident and will make every reasonable attempt to minimize the inconvenience to residents.”
