Kiwanis Club Pet Show seeks entrants

STILLWATER, Okla. — Children, ages 12 and under, will have the chance to show off their pets during the Kiwanis Club Pet Show at the Payne County Expo Center Wednesday.

Kiwanis Club President-elect Ken Beck said the show has been held for nearly 15 years.

Two groups — older children and younger children — will take part by bringing their animals to the show.

“They parade them around the arena and the judges take a look at them,” Beck said.

Beck said he has seen everything from bugs to ponies. There’s a lot of variety, he said.

“Some of them have snakes,” he said. “Some of them have chickens.”

The judges, Kiwanis club members, will select the most intriguing animal. However, no one leaves empty-handed. All participants get a prize.

The normal turnout is eight to 10 participants in each category.

Participants must arrive at the dirt floor arena by 5:30 p.m. The competition begins at 6 p.m.
