STILLWATER, Okla. —
Law enforcement officers were busy with arrests in Stillwater and surrounding areas for various crimes during summer’s last big weekend.
The most arrests were seven cases of public intoxication. Stillwater Police also cited people for underage possession of beer on three occasions.
Payne County Sheriff Capt. Kevin Woodard said officers were on patrol for the entire week at the fair with many reserve officers on duty.
“Some minor arrests were made,” he said. “We recognized a few people walking around with warrants.”
Arrests were made for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Perkins Police Chief Bob Ernst said the department was busy with arrests for warrants and assaults.
Perkins Fire Chief Joe Barta said no one was injured in a structure fire on Labor Day at approximately 9:15 p.m.. Firefighters extinguished a mobile home fully engulfed in flames at the Piney River Mobile Home Park, west of Perkins.
The home was abandoned and 100 percent engulfed. The fire was contained by firefighters,, he said.
“The cause couldn’t be determined,” Ernst said.
Thefts were predominant over the weekend with more than $15,000 worth of people’s belongings, including jewelry, electronics and a motorcycle, according to police records.
