Glencoe seeks $60,000 grant from Payne County Economic Development Board

STILLWATER, Okla. — The city of Glencoe wants a $60,210 grant from the Payne County Economic Development Board.

Payne County commissioners will recess their 9 a.m. Tuesday meeting to convene at 9:30 a.m. as the Payne County Economic Development meeting.

The application states the city of Glencoe owns a 40-acre tract with baseball fields, playgrounds, a pavilion, restrooms, horseshoe pitching courts, RV area, a walking/nature trail and a small lake.

The city would like to replace the aging walking trail, add RV camping and a basketball court, according to the application.

Also on the County Commission agenda is a bid opening for an asphalt overlay from State Highway 18 to Kings Highway and a bid opening for a Community Development Block Grant water project for Lincoln County Rural Water District 4.

County Commissioner Zach Cavett said part of the water district is in Payne County and the water district is seeking permission from Payne County to put in water lines.

County Commissioner Jim Arthur said the project is intended to provided water to Agra from Lone Chimney Lake.

Also on the agenda is a road name request for a county road on the south side of 56th between Sangre and Western. The requested road name is “Pearl Snap Trail.”

Arthur said commissioners usually allow people to name short county roads around their residence as they wish.

“As long as it’s not too hideous,” Arthur said.
