STILLWATER, Okla. — The Stillwater High School Vocal Music program is set to continue an annual tradition of music with its Christmas concert at First United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Director Dana Ayers said this concert will offer different types of carols and songs.

“We’ve got everything from three Spanish, early-era carols to songs from ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas,’” Ayers said.

This will be the first year for the program, titled “Welcome Christmas!” to be held at the First United Methodist Church. While the setting may be different, Ayers said it will still hold an intimate feel, great acoustics and will be beautifully decorated.

The Pioneer Chorale, an auditioned ensemble of 32 members, will perform a traditional and swing arrangement of “Carol of the Bells,” a rendition of “White Christmas” and “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” from “The Island of Misfit Toys.”

The mixed choir, a nonaudition group of 20 members, will perform “We Need a Little Christmas,” “Away in a Manger” and “Rocking Carol.”

Close Harmony, a 12-member student-run organization, will perform songs including “Christmas Canon” and “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”

“You will see some full on solos in the concert that you don’t normally see,” Ayers said.

Admission to the concert is free.
