STILLWATER, Okla. — Cushing residents have returned to the 50-unit Cimarron Tower Apartment Complex following Sunday’s fire that forced the evacuation of the complex, Cushing Fire Chief Chris Pixler said.

Pixler said 17 residents stayed overnight at the Cushing Youth Center in an American Red Cross-sponsored shelter.

Cushing firefighters responded to the fourth floor of the seven-floor apartment building Sunday night. The fire was limited to one room, but heavy smoke filled two floors and there was some smoke on four others, Pixler said.

No one was injured in the fire, Pixler said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it doesn’t appear to be intentional.
