STILLWATER, Okla. — Stillwater firefighters responded Monday morning to a possible structure fire at a home near East 3rd Avenue and Arrington Drive.
The fire was put out by the time they arrived, officials said. Crews sprayed the wooden stairs the fire had burned.
Stillwater Fire Capt. Anderson said the fire was possibly started by a cigarette.
“All the teachers started screaming into the room and saying, ‘Get into the hallway! We don’t want you to die!’ and stuff like that,” said sixth-grader Phaedra Dunn. “We just took off running.”
