STILLWATER, Okla. —
With two and soon-to-be-three sons at Oklahoma State University, alumna Jamie Dunn knows a thing or two about March Madness. She’s returning to Stillwater with the Taste of Home Cooking School March 21 ready to help you prepare for basketball feeding frenzies as the NCAA celebrates the 75th Anniversary of March Madness commemorating legendary OSU Coach Henry Iba and the 1945 and 1946 Division I Men’s Basketball Championship Cowboys.
From finger food appetizers for snacks in front of the TV to delicious full meals and decadent desserts, the Taste of Home has a smorgasbord of recipes for slam-dunking hungry fans. The Taste of Home Orange Flank Steak recipe is a perfect way to show off your orange pride.
“When it comes down to feeding your body and mind, nothing is better than preparing food from scratch with quality ingredients and served with love,” Dunn said. “In these economic times, I like to inspire more people to cook at home.”
Dunn developed her cooking skills at OSU where she earned a degree in home economics. Working for Taste of Home is her dream job and she’s excited to return to her alma mater for the show sponsored by the Stillwater NewsPress.
The show includes an expo in the Wes Watkins Center with a two-hour interactive cooking class including product demonstrations, sampling, recipes, cooking techniques and practical kitchen tips. The Stillwater Medical Center culinary staff will assist Dunn with the program. An entire meal will be demonstrated including spicy gazpacho salad, stuffed baby red potatoes, creamy jalapeno soup, French onion pizza au gratin, turkey burgers, chicken paillard with cherry sauce and parsley rice, mango lime pie and pineapple upside down cupcakes.
The show intermission features a fashion show by Dress Barn. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. (or 4 p.m. For VIP ticket holders) with the cooking show beginning at 6:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 or $35 for VIP admission with portions of the proceeds benefiting Mission of Hope shelter for the homeless. Tickets are $12 at the door. VIP ticket holders will have extra food and beverages available in a special lounge with show seating front and center.
Tickets are available by calling 405-372-5000 or stopping by the NewsPress offices at 211 W. Ninth St.
