STILLWATER, Okla. —
Stillwater city councilors finalized an agreement Monday night to allow a nonprofit group to run the Multi Arts Center.
The Friends of Multi Arts is a 501(c)(3) organization that took control of programming at the center at the start of this year. The group had been working under a temporary agreement for the past six months, but the agreement approved Monday will provide the group $60,000 annually for the next five years to run day-to-day operations.
External Services Director John McClenny told councilors that’s on average $15,000 less than what Stillwater was paying to run the center. The city still owns the center, but the group has hired a manager, does daily maintenance and chooses classes and events.
