ASCO Aerospace USA gears up for a mid-2014 production startup

STILLWATER, Okla. — ASCO Inc. wll start purchasing manufacturing equipment soon, renovating the former MerCruiser factory on Perkins Road early next year and beginning to manufacture aviation equipment in mid-2014, ASCO Inc. Vice Chairman Trudo Motmans said Friday.

ASCO will start building aeronautical equipment for existing contracts at its Stillwater factory — ASCO Aeronautics USA —  in mid-2014, Motmans said.

The Belgium-based aeronautics company, Motmans said, hopes to expand Stillwater factory production between 2014-2018 through additional contracts.

“Stillwater will be the manufacturing center of excellence of the Americas in a one-stop solution factory,” Motmans said. “It will be a one-stop shop — a state of the art facility.”

ASCO will forge and machine all parts, treat them in house, assemble and deliver them, Motman said.

ASCO officials announced the company’s investment in a Stillwater facility on July 9 at the Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, U.K. An announcement also was made in Stillwater.

The aerospace company will bring 500 to 600 jobs to Stillwater.

“An investment decision is not an easy decision,” Motmans said Friday.

ASCO chose Stillwater because it has an experienced workforce with a good technical education, easy access to customers and a culture of entrepreneurship.

The company designs and makes airplane parts for Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, Embraer and other airplane makers.
