A case that was initially considered to be suspicious is now being investigated by the Stillwater Police Department as an accidental death.

According to an SPD release, Larry Alan Barnes was found dead after police responded to his home in the 1100 block of North Main at 4:25 p.m. Thursday.

The nature of the case was initially considered a suspicious death but Ron Thrasher, deputy chief of police, said Friday the case is now being investigated as an accidental death.

Thrasher said there was no obvious evidence of foul play and SPD is awaiting the results of an autopsy and toxicology screening requested from the state medical examiner.

Friends of Barnes were contacted and said he had not been seen in the last few days. The investigation will continue and is being handled by the Criminal Investigations Division of SPD.

Those with any information on the case can call 372-4171.
