Gene L. Gum, 74, died on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 in  Arkoma, Okla. Family will greet friends at the Strode  Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012. His funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Harder        officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gene was born on Aug. 23, 1938 in Granite City, Ill., to John Hurles and Mary    Rosalia (Caffrey) Gum. He graduated from Granite High School in 1957, and on June 26, 1958, he married Patsy Ann Hale in Tulsa, Okla. They were married for over forty years before her death in 2001. In April of 2009, Gene remarried to Ruth Turner in Tulsa, Okla.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and son, Eugene Gum, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Gum; three sons, Brian, Craig, and Kevin Gum; two daughters, Debbie Sellman and Tracey Robinson; ten grandchildren, Amanda Sellman, Ashley Sellman, Patrick Gum, Carly Gum, Matthew Gum, Landry Gum, Trevor Gum, Mackenzie Robinson, Sydney Robinson, and Ennis Sellman; and one brother, Richard Gum.

Pallbearers will include Brian Gum, Craig Gum, Kevin Gum, Matt Gum, Ennis Sellman, and Mike Robinson.
