Jeanette Lucille (Mehan) Zetterberg

Jeanette Lucille (Mehan) Zetterberg, 88, died on Sunday, June 9, 2013, in Perkins. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mehan Union Church with Pastor Larry Eslinger officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Ripley. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jeanette was born in Chicago, Ill., on June 7, 1925, to the late Perry and Mae Agnes (Bubis) Mehan. She married the love of her life, Ralph A. Zetterberg Jr., on May 30, 1947, and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage before Ralph’s death in 2005. She was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked at I-O-A Boy’s Ranch and the Trust Department at First National Bank for many years. Jeanette was greatly involved with Mehan Union Church where she taught Bible class for several years, and served as the church secretary and treasurer. She was also involved with the Lend-A-Hand Club. She was a Mehan historian, and a descendent of John Mehan for whom the town of Mehan was named after the Oklahoma land run. Jeanette had some of her articles published in Country Magazine.

She is preceded in death by her parents; spouse; sons, Ralph A. Zetterberg, III, David R. Zetterberg and Steven E. Zetterberg; daughter, Karen A. Miller; and brother, Perry Mehan.

She is survived by her son, Richard D. Zetterberg, and his wife, Jamie; son, Kevin D. Zetterberg, and his wife, Debbie; son, Mike B. Zetterberg; son-in-law, Ken Miller; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include Michael Zetterberg, Matthew Zetterberg, Nicholas Zetterberg, Joseph Courtright, Kyler Zetterberg and Tucker Zetterberg.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jeanette’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at 6465 S. Yale Ave., #312, Tulsa, OK 74136, or at www.alz.org.
