Dr. L. Herbert Bruneau

— Dr. L. Herbert Bruneau, 84, died on Friday, April  12, 2013, in Stillwater. There will be no funeral services held at this time. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Bruneau was born Nov. 28, 1928, to Victor Herbert and Linda Mary (Leslie) Bruneau in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. He received his bachelor's degree in zoology from McGill University, and later earned his doctorate in zoology from the University of Texas. He was a zoology professor at Oklahoma State University for 40 years before retiring in 1995. He married the love of his life, Betty Jane Leifheit, on Aug . 18 1953, in McAllen, Texas. He and Betty attended 23 Elder Hostels.

As a youth, he was a King Scout (Eagle equivalent) of the Canadian Boy Scouts. In his adult years, Dr. Bruneau was an active lifetime volunteer of Troop 20 of Stillwater with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, Wood Badge instructor and Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow.

In his spare time, Dr. Bruneau enjoyed reading, classical music and a good glass of sauvignon blanc.  

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Bruneau, of Stillwater; daughter, Carol Lorraine Bruneau of Missoula, Mont.; son, David Emmeit Bruneau of Mesa, Ariz.; granddaughter, Whitney Nicole Bruneau, an OSU student in Stillwater.; and grandson, Clarke Logan Bruneau, of Owasso..

A reception will be held for family and friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m on Friday at Hideaway Pizza, 230 S. Knoblock St.
