Thelma Jewel (Passons) Franklin

Thelma Jewel (Passons) Franklin was born on Sept. 30, 1921 in Shawnee, Okla., to William and Bertha (Bratcher) Passons.  She spent most of her early years living in the Macomb area and graduated from Macomb high school in 1939 where she was the senior class valedictorian.

 During WWII, Thelma moved to Calif., and remained there until her      retirement in 1971.  She worked for several large     supermarkets in the San Jose/Bay area as a retail clerk.  Upon her retirement, she moved back to Shawnee to take care of her Mother.  

Thelma was a member of the Central Church of Christ.  She and her very good friend, Kathryn Shields, spent many years visiting the sick and elderly members of her church on a weekly basis.     Thelma was an avid OU and OSU football and basketball fan.  

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents: William & Bertha  Passon, three brothers: Boyd, Richard, & D.O. Passons, two sisters: Lola Brown & Loyce Kerr, and one son: Ronald Franklin.  Survivers      include five nieces: LaTrelle Davis of Konowa, Terry Conley of Fresno, Calif., Zona Quick of Morrison,   Johnna Hasenfratz of Stillwater, Diane Moore of Tecumseh, several cousins, and her dear friend, Kathryn Shields of Shawnee.  

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Sterling House of Shawnee and Judith Karman Hospice of Stillwater for their devoted care of  Thelma.  

Funeral services will be held on Monday Oct. 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee with minister Dwyane Dennis officiating.  Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. For    additional information, please visit www.resthavenfh.com
