She graduated Tulsa Central High School in 1934 and attended a year of ladies' seminary at Ward-Belmont in Nashville, Tenn. She transferred to Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis in dietetics. She gave liberally of her time and resources to many organizations including; Oklahoma State University, Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, P. E. O., Project O Si Yo, Feed the Children, Stillwater Medical Center, and her beloved church, First Presbyterian of Stillwater.
