She graduated Tulsa Central High School in 1934 and attended a year of ladies' seminary at Ward-Belmont in Nashville, Tenn. She transferred to Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis in dietetics. While at OSU she became a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity and began a lifelong commitment of service to others and treasured friendships. After briefly teaching home economics in Skiatook, she married Frank Wyatt Lewis on July 22, 1939, at her parents’ home.

That evening they embarked on a life together as they traveled to their new home in Midland, Texas.

She gave liberally of her time and resources to many organizations including; Oklahoma State University, Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, P. E. O., Project O Si Yo, Feed the Children, Stillwater Medical Center, and her beloved church, First Presbyterian of Stillwater.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two of her daughters, Linda Lewis Kirkland and Mary Lewis Warren and her grandson, Jeffrey R. Garrett.
