Gale Hansen, 76, died Aug. 14, 2013, in Tulsa. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Stillwater with pastor Cheryll Armstrong-Kaukis and pastor Owen Cayton officiating.
On June 21, 1937, Gale was born to the late Clois Dixon and Anna Mae (Jones) Herring in Pampa, Texas. She attended Lamar Tech in Beaumont, Texas, before transferring to Southwestern Louisiana University in Lafayette. She married Philip W. Hansen in Pampa, Texas on Sept. 6, 1957, and together they raised three beautiful children. Gale was a member of the First Christian Church and a part of the Newcomers of Stillwater. Gale was an enthusiastic bridge player and participated in many ladies groups as well as couples groups. She also loved cooking for others most, especially for the Logos youth program at First Christian Church. Her love for people translated into many meals cooked for those who needed them and many hours spent helping others. As an avid quilter, she was determined to hand quilt each of her children and grandchildren their own quilt which she succeeded in doing. Last, but not least, she was a devout Christian.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Gale is survived by her husband of 55 years, Philip W. Hansen; two sons, Scott W. Hansen and Brett D. Hansen; one daughter, Sara J. Hansen; six grandchildren, Justin, Amber, Austin, Jonathan, Anna and Katie; and one great-grandchild, Kylie.
