Robert Gordon “Bob” Glenn Sr.

— Robert Gordon “Bob” Glenn Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013. He was born on Jan. 20, 1927, in Dallas, Texas, to H. Roy Sr. and Leta Glenn. He attended Pleasant Grove Schools in Dallas and graduated in 1944. Glenn served in the U.S. Navy before attending SMU. He earned degrees in religious education and sacred music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth where he met the love of his life, Bettie Jo Camp. They were married on Sept. 2, 1951.

He served as minister of education, music and youth and as pastor in Baptist churches in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Arizona and Florida. Upon retirement, they chose to live in Stillwater to be close to their children and grandchildren.

He was passionate about sharing his faith in Jesus Christ with everyone he met and wherever he went, even during his last illness. He and Bettie were active members of the First Baptist Church, Stillwater, where they enjoyed serving in the International Friends Ministry and participating in the music ministry.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, and has now joined them in family singing in heaven. He is survived by his wife, Bettie, of 62 years; daughter, Beckie and Steve Rogers of Stillwater; sons, Robert Jr. and Mary of Broken Arrow, and Byron and Scharlee of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and four great-grandsons with one more on the way.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 6465 S. Yale Ave., #312, Tulsa, OK, 74136; or to a charity of your choice.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 at Strode Funeral Home. His service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26 at the First Baptist Church. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
