Jane A. Mayberry Ferchau

Memorial service for friends and family for Jane A. Mayberry Ferchau will be Saturday in the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater at 10 a.m. The Rev. Michael Chaffin will officiate. Graveside services will be Sunday at 10 a.m. in Enid Cemetery, 212 W. Willow in Enid. The Rev. Don Johnson will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Jane A. Mayberry Ferchau, loving mother, grandmother and friend to all, passed away Aug. 25, 2013, at the age of 81. On March 25, 1932, Janie was born to Edward and Edith Mayberry in Enid. She graduated from Enid High School in 1950 and went on to attend William Woods University in Fulton, Mo.

Janie is preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, S.N. Mayberry.

Janie married Jack Ferchau in Enid in 1951. They moved to California, then to Norman and several small oilfield towns in Texas before returning home to Enid to raise their family.

In June 1968, Janie opened the first privately owned Lynn’s Hallmark Card Shop in the United States in Enid and two additional stores in Ponca City and Oklahoma City. She retired in 2003 to spend time with her family and grandchildren.

Janie is survived by her son, Mark Ferchau, daughter-in-law, Lisa and grandchildren, Alex and Matthew Ferchau of Houston, Texas; daughter, Betsy Ferchau Avery, son-in-law, Greg and grandchildren, Brooke and James Avery of Stillwater; and her dear and close friend Jack Ferchau of Stillwater.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of The Forum at Memorial Woods and Hospice Compasses of Houston, Texas, for their loving care of Janie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compasses, 1770 St. James Place, Suite 330, Houston, Texas 77056.
