Wilford “Gene” Doll

— Wilford “Gene” Doll, 82, passed away on Sept. 15, 2013, at his home in Yale.

Graveside services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale and will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale, with Pastor Barry Richards of First Baptist Church officiating.

The son of the late Wilford Earl Doll and Lela Rose (Clemons) Doll, Gene Doll was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Yale Hospital, Yale. Gene graduated from Quay High School in 1949. Following high school he entered into the United States Army, serving in Korea before receiving his honorable discharge in 1952.

Gene was united in marriage to the love of this life, Liqueta Young, on Aug. 23, 1952, in Stillwater and they established their first home in Yale. Gene worked most of his life as a rancher and auctioneer, but many will remember him from his time working at the Pawnee Livestock Auction, Perkins Livestock Auction and at the Oklahoma Livestock Commission Co. in Tulsa for over 25 years. Gene also owned the Doll Feed Store in Yale for nearly 30 years and the Skiatook Commission Co. in Hominy. When Gene wasn’t working cattle and ranching he loved to rope. After he retired from everyday ranching he enjoyed traveling to craft shows with his wife.

Gene was also a member of the First Baptist Church, Yale, for 50 years.

Gene is survived by his wife Liqueta of the home, daughter Jeannie Schroeder and husband Dan of Yale, grandson Will Schroeder and wife Rachel of Yale, one brother, Gerald Don Doll and wife Kathryn, two sisters Earlene Lewis and husband Marion, Charlene Mc Donald and husband Warren, brother-in-law Billy Young and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by one son, Brad Doll.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, Yale, OK, (202 W. Boston) or to the Stillwater Medical Center Foundation, c/o Nursing Scholarships (P.O. Box 2408, Stillwater, OK, 74076) in Gene’s name.
