Laberta Ruth Peaden

Laberta Ruth Peaden, 87, died on Dec. 14, 2013, in Stillwater. Her funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Interment followed at Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on March 2, 1926, to Jess and Elsie (Penny) Redburn in Stillwater. She graduated from Stillwater High School after which she attended Oklahoma A & M.  During college, she met and married John “Junior” Peaden on Jan. 7, 1946, in Stillwater. She left college to pursue a career as a housewife and mother of her four children, John, Ronald, Darlene, and Carla. Laberta and John were together for 53 years until his death in 1999.

Laberta is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Jess and Elsie; and sister, Charlene Mott.

She is survived by two sons, John and wife Linda Peaden (Owasso); Ronald Peaden (Stillwater) and two daughters Darlene Peaden Keeling and husband Jack (Broken Arrow) and Carla Peaden (Stillwater); seven grandchildren, Eric; Kyle; Mark; Shana Peaden; Jessica Peaden Biddy; Meredith Keeling Slish and Lauren Keeling Esau; six great-grandchildren, Haley and Brynlee Peaden; Cadence Kramer; Sam, Zack and Ben Biddy; and three sisters, Pat Mott;  Ardyth DuPree and Alice Bilyeu.

Pallbearers were John Peaden, Eric Peaden, Kyle Peaden, Mark Peaden, Jack Keeling and Hayley Peaden.

Memorial contributions can be made in Laberta’s name to the Stillwater Humane Society, 1710 S. Main. Stillwater, OK  74074.
