Janet Lynn Evans Sumpter

— Janet Lynn Evans Sumpter went to be with Our Lord Dec. 23, 2013, in Stillwater at the age of 50. Her memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Janet was born to Milo and JoAnn Evans in Joplin, Mo.. on Feb. 13, 1963. She was schooled in Joplin, Ponca City, and graduated from Tulsa Memorial in 1981, where she excelled in track and basketball. She attended OSU and achieved her degree in fashion merchandising.

While working in retail sales, she met Noel Sumpter, whom she wed on Dec. 12, 1987, in Tulsa. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Dylan and Carly. Janet also worked for many years at USDA in FSA Department. She was fond of playing basketball with her family in the backyard and strived to keep her children active and healthy by encouraging them in physical activities as well as in band in school. She enjoyed being with close friends, cooking and socializing at various functions as a member of the Elk Lodge.

Janet was preceded in death by her father, Milo.

She is survived by her husband, Noel, and children of the home, Dylan and Carly; her mother, JoAnn, and sister, Mila Jo Evans, of Tulsa; brother, Randy Evans (Sylvia), of Joplin, Mo.; sister, Susan Welch (Todd), of North Richland Hills, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.

She also leaves behind many friends and loved ones around the country who will miss her laughter and joy. She will be sorely missed by one and all.
