Faith Alameda LaFrance

Faith Alameda LaFrance, 87, of Stillwater, passed from this life on Jan. 30, 2013.  Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 2:00 P.M.  on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at the funeral home chapel (5106 N. Washington) with Sid Davis presiding.  Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Public Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. and Sunday from 1 PM to 6 PM.

Faith was born on Aug. 19, 1925 to James B. and Ethel Burford in Locust Grove, Okla.  She grew up in the Locust Grove area, where she met the love of her life, A. “Cliff” LaFrance.  They married in March of 1942, a union that would last 52 years until his passing in 1994.  The couple spent years raising cattle in the Ripley area while she worked as the Kitchen Manager for Stillwater Middle School among others.  Cliff worked for the USDA at Oklahoma State University’s Agronomy Department.  Faith was a long time member of the Ripley Methodist Church, Stillwater Travel Club, and a volunteer for the Stillwater Medical Center.  She also traveled to conventions with the food service society, and the ladies even got to be used as extras on an episode of Magnum P.I. while at a convention in Hawaii.  In her spare time, Faith enjoyed traveling, gardening both vegetables and flowers, sewing and embroidery, and cooking.  For a time she even made terrariums.  Her greatest joy however, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Faith is survived by her son, Gary LaFrance of Stillwater; grandchildren Terry LaFrance of Oklahoma City, Lori LaFrance of Orlando, Fla., Stacie LaFrance of Orlando, Fla., and grandson Jimmy Cash and wife Trish of Perkins; two great grandchildren, Justin and James, and brother J.B. Burford and wife Dorothy of Silver Springs, MD, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Faith was preceded in death by her husband Cliff LaFrance; daughter Sybil LaFrance, step-daughter Betty Jo LaFrance, brothers Jerry Burford and Bill Burford, and sister Virginia Norton.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the March of Dimes.
