Gene W. Womack, 84, of Perry, was the son of Charles and Ruth Irene (Cox) Womack. He was born June 7, 1928 in Cherokee and went to be with his heavenly father, Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
He married his best friend and sweetheart, Dolores Donez Rader on Dec. 26, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell. Gene graduated from Oklahoma State University in May 1960 with a Civil Engineering Degree.
Gene served his country in the United States Army 45th Infantry Division. He was mobilized in 1950 for a tour in the Korean War and was honorably discharged.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the Sandhill Farm, was an avid OSU fan as well as a big John Wayne fan. But above all he loved spending time with his family.
Gene was a member of the Professional Engineers Association, Perry Noon Lions Club, Perry American Legion Post 53 and Methodist Men.
Gene was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Trustees and Administrative Council for several years.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, 2013. at the United Methodist Church in Perry. Rev. Michael Strange will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the American Lung Association in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Perry, Ok., 73077.
Gene is survived by his wife, Donez; one son, Steve Womack and his life partner, Cedric Weatherspoon of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Sharon Kaiser of Stillwater, Cartha Coker and her husband, Brent of Sapulpa, Stephanie Rupp and her husband, Mark of Perry; one sister, Rose Marie Winder and her husband, Willis of Grove; nine grandchildren, Kilee Kaiser and her fiancé, Rick Sharpton, Matt Kaiser and his girlfriend, Jolynn Fultz, all of Stillwater, Breigh Coker, Chad Coker, Carson Coker and his fiancé, Morgan Bozone, all of Sapulpa, Dwayne Weatherspoon and Arron Weatherspoon both of Oklahoma City, Savannah Locust and her husband, Jason of Porum, Ladd Rupp of Perry; one great grandchild, Kye Locust of Porum.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth; two brothers, Clayton Womack and Howard Womack.
