John Henry Lowry

John H. Lowry, 50, of Perkins, went to be with his savior on August 15, 2012 surrounded by those he loved.  Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, August 23, 2012 at River of Life Church in Perkins, Okla.  Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery.

John Henry Lowry was born on June 17, 1962 to John Leon and Charlene (Dickens) Lowry in Ponca City, OK.  He was raised and attended school in Glencoe.  Following his graduation, John began his career in the automotive industry.  He owned and operated Lowry’s Auto Salvage in Glencoe for nearly 20 years.  He also worked as an auto mechanic for several shops in the Perkins, Stillwater, and Morrison area.  He most recently worked delivering parts for local auto parts stores in the Stillwater area, until his illness forced him into retirement.

On December 2, 1994, John married his best friend and soul mate, Virginia Reynolds in Eureka Springs, Ark.  The couple made their home in Perkins, Okla.  John lovingly referred to Virginia as his “Nugget,” as he valued her more than gold and John and Virginia loved each other as much on the day he passed as they did when they married 17 years earlier.

John Lowry was a quiet, soft spoken and gentle man.  He was a good listener who was very generous to those who were truly in need.  He had a special ability to meet people and discern their true character without judging them.  John was an easy going, sarcastic, and caring family man who enjoyed the simple things in life.  He loved fishing, sightseeing and taking what he referred to as “Geezer Tours” around the nation with Virginia and her family.   John also loved bowling and motorcycles.  He kept a brand new Harley parked on his white bedroom carpet for over two years.  It never leaked a drop. John was a loyal husband, a loving son, a dedicated Christian, an ornery stepdad, and a dependable friend.

John was preceded in death by his two grandmothers: Maxine Younger and Billie Walsh.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Lowry of Perkins, his parents John and Charlene Lowry of Glencoe.  A sister: Shon, and husband, Kevin Treat of Glencoe. Four step daughters: Susan and husband,  Thom Holmes of Chandler, Melinda Wilson of Perkins, Sandra Schultz of Perkins, and Michelle Lolley of Chandler. 8 step grandchildren. A step great grandchild, Gabriel Chew.  Two nieces : Shelbey and Ashley Treat and a great niece Zariah Huerta.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in John’s name to River of Life Church  9404 S. Perkins Rd, Perkins, OK  74059

Condolences can be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com
