Benjamin Edward Fisher

Benjamin Edward Fisher, 17, of Stillwater, joined his Savior in glory on Friday, Dec. 06, 2013, when a gun misfired in his hands. Family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater. Services will be held at 1p.m. Friday at Countryside Baptist Church, in Stillwater with the Rev. Noah M. Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at South Marshall Cemetery in Logan County. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements

Ben was born on March 22, 1996 in Champaign, Ill. to Dan and Lisa Fisher. In 1999, he moved to Stillwater, with his family where he was home schooled through high school, taking additional classes from Sunnybrook Christian School, The Potter’s School, and Harmon Learning Services. As a senior in high school in the fall of 2013, Ben enrolled concurrently in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Oklahoma State University. He was an active member and Cadet 2nd Lt. in the Civil Air Patrol, a leader in a local FIRST Robotics team and a member of the Stillwater Honor Choir.

As a baptized and communicant member of Enid Reformed Church (RPCNA), Ben actively participated in the regular worship and service of the church. He held strong convictions of the truth of God’s word and his own deep assurance of the sovereignty of God and the love of Jesus Christ. A young man with many plans and ambitions, Ben’s hope of glory and eternity with Jesus remained pre-eminent.

Ben is survived by his parents, Dan and Lisa Fisher, Stillwater; five sisters, Elizabeth, Ruth, Danielle, Christa Fisher and Anna (Daniel) Graham; two brothers, Greg and Calvin; and his grandmothers, Christine Fisher, Quincy, Ill.; and Gladys True, Hickory Corners, Mich. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, George Fisher, Joliet, Ill.; and Marshall True, Homewood, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one of three organizations Ben loved: his church (RP Midwest Presbytery, c/o Enid Reformed Church, PO Box 6132, Enid, OK 73702, designate Builders Fund), his robotics Team (Thunderstorm Robotics, c/o Strode Funeral Home, 610 S Duncan St, Stillwater, OK 74074) and his Civil Air Patrol Squadron (Civil Air Patrol/Stillwater Squadron, c/o Strode Funeral Home, 610 S. Duncan St, Stillwater, OK 74074).
