Craig Collin Evans, 53, died on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 in Stillwater, Okla. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Kenneth J. Harder officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Craig was born on Jan. 24, 1959 to Conrad and Joy (McKnight) Evans in Ethiopia in the Horn of Africa. He graduated from high school in Dennison, Texas, and then went on to earn a Master’s of Science from OSU. Craig worked for OSU as an Extension Associate. He married Mary Catherine Koelsch in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Dec. 31, 1997. Craig liked gardening and was known as the neighborhood turf expert. He loved all things outdoors, and instilled this love in his daughter, Sarah. When he traveled, he liked to get up early to see the sunrise, or leave at dusk, and to always view the local wildlife. He enjoyed hanging out with his brothers and family, and greatly loved his daughter and three dogs, Oscar, Meyer and Weener.  

He is preceded in death by his father, Conrad Evans.

He is survived by his mother, Joy Evans; wife, Cathy Evans; daughter, Sarah E. Evans, all of Stillwater, Okla.; brother, Brian Evans, and wife, Cathy, of Dennison, Texas; brother, Kent Evans, and wife, Julie, of Moscow, Idaho; and brother, Shaun Evans, of Stillwater, Okla.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Catholic Relief Services at P.O. Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203-7090.
