Richard Kenneth Tessmann, 75, of Perry, formerly of Stillwater, was the son of Seigfreid R. and Veda Claire (Shrock) Tessmann.
He was born May 9, 1938, in Solomon, Kan., and died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Perry.
He graduated from Solomon High School in 1956 and went on to earn his bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Oklahoma State University in mechanical engineering. Richard was a registered professional engineer in Oklahoma.
Richard married his best friend and sweetheart, Barbara L. Gould, on Feb. 14, 1958, at the First Christian Church in Perry.
He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, golf, bowling, roping and was known to be a good overall sportsman. He loved spending time and visiting with his family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the Perry Home Health doctors, nurses and support staff for their caring, love and support during this difficult time.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, 411 W. Matthews Ave., Stillwater. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.

Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; son, Mike Tessmann and his wife, Vickie of Perry; daughter-in-law, Janet Tessmann of Pawnee; sister, Joan Roberts of Solomon, Kan.; niece, Capitola Sutherland of Ft. Riley, Kan.; nephew, James Roberts of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Seigfreid and Veda Tessmann, and one son, Douglas Wayne Tessmann.
