Rose Mary Wisk

Rose Mary Wisk was born on Dec. 13, 1931 to John Edward Callan and Adeline Ann (DeBrosse) Callan in Monett, Mo.  She was the youngest of four children.  She graduated from Monett High School and went on to complete her nurses training at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo.

Her nursing career spanned over four decades.  She worked in numerous settings including a variety of hospitals and public health.

While working at the Veteran’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., she met Carl F. Wisk.  They eventually married on Feb. 20, 1960 in Annuciation Catholic Church in Kansas City.  Throughout their 45 year marriage they lived in Muskogee, Lawton, Oklahoma City, Clinton and Stillwater.  They shared many activities including birding, dancing, gardening and their faith.

Shortly after her husband’s death in 2005, Rose Mary moved to St. Ann’s Retirement Center in Oklahoma City.  There she made many friends and took pride in her new home serving as an Ambassador for new residents.  She stayed active playing card games and bingo, going on group outings and attending Bible study.

Rose Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother John James Callan and sister Adeline Ann Bell.  She is survived by daughter Annette Wisk Jacobi, son-in-law, Steven Jacobi and grandchildren Gabrielle Mary and John Michael “Jack”; son Timothy Callan Wisk and grandchildren Jacob Callan and Nicholas Gabriel; and brother James Edward Callan.

The family would like to express its deep gratitude to the staff and residents of St. Ann’s Retirement Center and Nursing Home, Ultimate One Home Health and Mercy Hospice for the love and kindness shown Rose Mary.

A prayer vigil will held Wednesday, July 25th  at 6:30pm and the mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, July 26th at 10:00am.  Both services will be held at St. Ann’s Retirement Center Chapel in Oklahoma City and will be officiated by The Rev. Price Grimes. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  Strode Funeral Home of Stillwater is in charge of arrangements.

Those who desire may make a memorial donation to St. Ann’s Retirement Center, 7501 W. Britton, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132.  Condolences may be emailed to the family and an online obituary may be viewed by visiting
