Shirley (Adams) Morgan

Perkins resident Shirley May Morgan passed from this world on Friday, July 27, 2012 in Perkins, Okla., at the age of 82.  Services will be held 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Okla., with Paul Anderson officiating.  Her final resting place will be at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing.

Shirley was born in Yale, Okla., on June 14, 1930 to John Franklin and Nina Lee (Pollard) Adams.  She grew up in the Ripley area and graduated from Ripley High School.  On Dec. 27, 1948 she and Verlon B. Morgan were married at the Freewill Baptist Church in Cushing, Okla.  They were married nearly 48 years at the time of his death in 1996.

Shirley became a resident of Perkins in 1979 and worked as a clerk for Perkins Drug Store for 17 years.  She loved her job, her coworkers, and customers.  She loved gardening, sewing, quilting, Bingo, visiting with friends, and Elvis.  No matter how bad Shirley felt, she always managed to make others laugh.  Her home was always a place that family loved to spend time in with laughter and great meals.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Verlon B. Morgan; one daughter, Emma, her parents, John Franklin and Nina Lee Adams; three brothers, Arthur (Art) Garland, and James (Jim) Adams; and one sister, Dorothy Adams Jones.

Survivors include one son, Jade and his wife Kim (Smith) Morgan of Vista, Calif.; and three daughters Verlynda (Morgan) Beane and her husband Wesley of Perkins; Marsch (Morgan) Lee and her husband Mike of Kingfisher; and Bonita (Morgan) Sloan and her husband Jimmy of Perkins.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and one sister, Hazel (Adams) Palovik.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers Shirley has had in the last five years and the Adult Life Center in Stillwater for their care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Adult Life Center, 411 W. Mathews, Stillwater, OK 74075.

Friends may leave condolences for the family via an online guestbook available at www.pmcfh.com or on our facebook page www.facebook.com/pmcfh
