Jay Delane Jeffrey

Jay Delane Jeffrey, 51, of Glencoe, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 28, 2012 surrounded by those he loved.  Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 2:00pm Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.  Public visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home at 5106 N. Washington in Stillwater.

Jay Jeffrey was born on November 4, 1961 in Eureka, Kan., to Joe Dexter and Emma Jane “Janie” Jeffrey.  He spent his grade school years in Kan., and in 1974 his family relocated to Mulhall, Okla.  In 1979, Jay graduated from Mulhall-Orlando High School and went to work in the oilfields.   In the early 80’s, Jay enlisted in the United States Navy.  He attended basic training in Colo., before being stationed in San Diego, Calif.  He was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1985 and returned to Mulhall and began working for Calvin Mays Oil Co in Guthrie.  In 1988, Jay married the love of his life and his best friend Cheryl Lynn Driskel.  Jay worked for Jesse Ross Concrete and the Berry Oil Co before beginning a career with the City of Stillwater Water Utilities Department in 1997 and he served as a Senior Utilities Maintenance Worker until his health forced him into early retirement in 2011.  Jay enjoyed his time working for the City of Stillwater and was proud of his Class B Licenses in both Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operations.

Jay Jeffrey was ornery practical joker who loved to play pranks on his friends and family to make them smile.  He was compassionate, generous, and always firm, but caring.  Jay was dependable and he accomplished what he set his mind to do.  Jay attended church at Fine Life Church in Glencoe and he spent hours each week reading and discussing the Bible with his family.  He loved the outdoors and really enjoyed fishing, grilling, watching baseball and spending time with Cheryl in their backyard.  Jay was never happier then when he was spending time with his family, particularly with his granddaughter, Isla Jay.

Jay was preceded in death by his father: Joe Dexter Jeffrey, a brother: John Daniel Jeffrey, grandparents: Raymond and Sarah Robinette and Clayton and Zelma Jeffrey, and his beloved dog :Bonnie Lu Jeffrey.

Jay is survived by his wife Cheryl Lynn Jeffrey, of the home.  A son: Kyle Jeffrey and wife Joni, of Stillwater.  Two daughters: Shallaway Jeffrey and Paul Chino of Brooklyn, NY., and JayLynn Jeffrey and Michael Sperry, of Stillwater.  His mother: Emma Jane “Janie” Jeffrey, of Mulhall, Okla.  Two brothers: Jerry Jeffrey and wife Rosemary, of Stillwater and Joe Jeffrey and wife Lisa, of Morrison.  A granddaughter: Isla Jay Chino, of Brooklyn, NY.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you spend your money taking a kid fishing.
