Donald Kent Downs, 65, of Mulhall, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Stillwater. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Mulhall with Pastor James Tucker officiating. Interment will be in Morris Heights Cemetery in Orlando. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of        services.

He was born Dec. 21, 1946, to John and Elva (Sawyer) Downs, in Stillwater, and attended school in Glencoe.  

At 17 he joined the  United States Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam, serving as a medic in the field.  He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal during the 1969 tour of duty.  He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on Dec. 3, 1971.  After returning home from military service he worked in the oilfield for many years.  He then was employed as a truck driver for the remainder of his working years.

He married Mildred Bode July 9, 1971, in Stillwater.

He enjoyed fishing and wood working.  He was a big fan of the Oklahoma State University Cowboys. He loved to cook and had quite a collection of kitchen  gadgets.  Most of all he loved his family, especially all of his grandchildren.

He was a member of the Mulhall Baptist Church.

His parents and wife preceded him in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Kelli Dixon and her husband, James, of Mulhall, Kim Hunt and her    husband, Keith, of Mulhall and Misti Downs; 12     grandchildren, Victoria, Kathryne and Brandon Dixon, Melissa Goree and her husband Byron, Chad and    Brayden Wills, Danielle, Kayleigh, Seth and Kadence Hunt, Lexi English and Matthew Camren;  and        greatgrandson Baylee Goree, brother, Alan Downs of Glencoe, sisters Dian Porter and Lisa Cundiff of       Stillwater.

Memorials may be sent to Mulhall Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 157 Mulhall, OK 73063
