John Warren Pickering Sr.

John Warren Pickering Sr., 90, was called home to be with the Heavenly Father on Feb. 15, 2013, after a lengthy illness.

John passed away with his son, John Jr. and Daughter-in-Law Donna, by his side.  

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home in Stillwater. A military service will be graveside at 2 p.m., Feb. 22 at the Fairlawn Cemetery, in Stillwater.  

Services will be officiated by Pastor Ron Keeling of the First Christian Church.

As a caring Father, Grandfather and Friend, John will always be remembered for his positive personality, infectious smile and zest for life.

John was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Jenks to Roy and Leona Pickering.  He grew up in Drumright.  He met his wife of 39 years, Patricia Elizabeth Wilson, in Shawnee.  

John served honorably with the 153rd Army Airways Communication Division of the Army Air Corp. He graduated from OSU in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

John retired from Halliburton Company after 40 years as the Nuclear Regulatory Specialist. Following he and his wife retired to his farm, outside of Stillwater, where he enjoyed his retirement years.

He is preceded by his wife, Patricia Elizabeth Wilson Pickering, patents Roy and Leona Pickering, sisters Lois Pickering, Hester Pickering Benefiel and brother Merle Pickering.

He leaves one son and daughter-in-law, John and Donna Pickering Jr., of Stillwater; one daughter Amie Pickering McGlamery and husband Steve, of Johns Creek, Ga.; two grandchildren, Joshua McGlamery, of Johns Creek, Ga and Katie McGlamery of Salt Lake City, Utah.
