Anna Mae Jones Herring, 93, died on March 4, 2013, in Stillwater. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m.  April 6, 2013, at First Christian Church in Stillwater with Revs. Cheryl Kaukis and Owen Cayton officiating.  Interment will be in Pampa, Texas. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Anna was born on March 29, 1919, to John Henry and Annabelle (McGruder) Jones in Healdton. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1935, and on Nov. 2, 1936, she married Clois Dixon Herring in Panhandle, Texas.  

Anna was a member of the First Christian Church. She loved to read and share books, paint china and play bridge. She belonged to many groups in the Stillwater area, and was active in Newcomers and the China Art Guild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Robert Dixon Herring; and sisters, Maureen Stevenson, Nell Gantz and Louvella Gantz.

She is survived by her daughter, C. Gale Hansen, and husband, Philip, of Stillwater; grandchildren, Elizebeth Beter, Kim Bergeron, Lynn Dobbs, Sara Hansen, Scott Hansen, and his wife, Sheryl, Brett Hansen, and Elizabeth Hansen; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made in Anna’s name to Helping Hand Fund at  First Christian Church 411 W. Mathews Ave., Stillwater, OK 74074; or Judith Karman Hospice at P.O. Box 818, Stillwater, OK 74076.
