Clifford Arthur Johnson went peacefully to be with his Lord March 12, 2013. Cliff loved to serve the Lord. He helped with building of the Sunday School and took his son, Chase with him so that he would learn to love working for the Lord. He also delivered meals to the people in need taking his son and others in his family with him. He taught eighth-grade boys Sunday School for years and then an adult class. Even after his memory began to fail the students in the class would help him because they enjoyed his class and knew how much he loved teaching. Another place he loved to serve was Camp Lela. He would find those boys that needed a father in their lives and take them fishing and camping. He was faithful in the mission field as well, going to Rome and Honduras to help those who had nothing. And at home he would go visit a friend who had become ill with cancer and go to area churches and get lists of people who needed prayer. He loved people and helping them.
He also loved the outdoors and was happiest when he was working on his small farm. After working for UPS tor 27 years, he had his own tree farm which he started from seeds. He would go to Couch Park in Stillwater and gather them: They grew to beautiful trees under his care. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing. He loved to go with whomever wanted to join him. He even loved to mow and would spend hours on his lawnmower making his yard beautiful. He always had a large garden and spent hours working in it. He volunteered in the Perkins community, coaching Little League sports for years.
His faith was the most important thing in his life. He read his Bible everyday and when he was no longer able to, his wife read it to him and he found great peace in this. He also went to church every Sunday until his health prevented him from going. He loved the opportunity to be with fellow believers and worship. Next to his faith. his family was his pride and joy. He was always anxious to tell stories about his children and grandchildren and the love of his life, his wife Cassandra. His oldest daughter, Nicole and her husband Branddon, live in Enid with their two boys, Brady and Wyatt. Another daughter, Brooke Allison and her husband Travis live in Ada with their three children. Carter, Jenna and Logan. Son Chase and his wife Brittany live in Sapulpa with their daughter Briley. Two more additions to the family are on the way. Daughter Nicole and her husband are expecting a baby due in October. Son Chase and his wife are expecting a daughter in May. Cliffs mother, Beullah lives in Perkins. He has seven siblings, Mike Johnson, Larry Johnson, Irma Redus, Tina Lynsky, Troy Cundiff, Tracy Cundiff and Todd Cundiff.
Special thanks to Payne County Bank employees for working with Cassandra during Cliff’s illness. Also thanks to the church family and friends in the community for prayers and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s association.
Services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church.
