Cleo ‘Leroy’ Coke

Cleo “Leroy” Coke, 79, passed away Dec. 21, 2012, in Tulsa. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale. and will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Church of God in Yale.  Pastor Mike Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lawson Cemetery in Yale.

He was the son of Cleo and Pansy (Boblit) Coke. Leroy was born on Feb. 10, 1933, in Yale. Leroy attended Bethel grade school and graduated from high school in Quay in 1950. He continued his education in Edmond, Alva and Southeastern College, graduating with a master’s degree. His schooling was interrupted two years when he entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He taught junior high math in Moore, Bartlesville, Fairfax and Stillwater. He retired in 1986.

Leroy enjoyed farming, raising cattle, fishing, gardening and visiting with friends.

Leroy is survived by Nell Anna Lehman of the home, two sisters, Bonnie Graves and husband, Bob of Sapulpa and Elaine Hammack of Owasso; two brothers, Earl Coke and wife, Pam of Yale and Bobby Joe Coke of Owasso; nephews: David and Kim Shaw of Texas, Greg and Liz Coke of Utah, Randall Coke of Yale, John and Heidi Hammack of Bartlesville and Chris Coke of Owasso; nieces: Lee Ann and Roger Roth of Bixby and Carrie Coke of Florida. Leroy is also survived by 11 great-nieces and nephews.

Leroy was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers, Carl and Paul Coke and one niece, Angela Hockett.
