Eric Dean Smith, a former Cushing resident, now of Stillwater, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the age of 32 years.

The son of Gary Dean Smith and Sue Shepherd Smith, Eric was born on April 17, 1980, in Cushing, and was raised and educated in the Cushing schools prior to moving to Woodward, where he graduated from Woodward High School.

Eric had been with Goober Drilling, now Latshaw Drilling, for about 10 years prior to his death. He enjoyed restoring old cars from the body work to the mechanical parts, 4-wheeling, remote control cars, his horses and his dog, Belle.

Eric will be remembered for his love for kids and his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his father, Gary Smith and his wife Marlene of Stillwater; his mother Sue Smith of Oklahoma City; his brother, Josh Smith and Monica of Florida.; his sister, Michelle Higgins and her husband Darren of Midwest City, Okla.; six nieces and nephews, Kirby, Breken, Jaxon, Michael, Alexandra and Angelica, his girl friend, Candace Henthorn of Stillwater and their unborn child, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Clouse, pastor of the Church of God, officiating.
