Spc. Jordan Matthew Morris

Spc. Jordan Matthew Morris, 23, of Stillwater, passed from this life on Aug. 11, 2011, while honorably serving his country in Afghanistan.  Funeral services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at the Stillwater High School Performing Arts Center.  The family will greet friends at Palmer Marler Funeral Home at 5106 N. Washington from 6-8pm on Friday, August 19.

Jordan was born on Feb. 12, 1988 in Elk City, Okla. to Brett and Nita (Faber) Morris. He was raised in the Stillwater area and attended school in Ripley, graduating from Ripley High School in 2006.  While at RHS, Jordan was a member of the baseball team and served as Student Council President. He was also involved in 4-H and was a member of the National Honor Society, as well as a class of 2006 Valedictorian. Jordan was also concurrently enrolled and graduated from the Oklahoma School of Science and Math.

Jordan was an active member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and was very involved the youth group and enjoyed spending time serving others on various mission trips.

After graduating from Ripley, Jordan was accepted and enrolled at the United States Military Academy at West Point, fulfilling a dream Jordan had since his 8th grade year.  While at West Point, Jordan was active in the Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) on campus.  Jordan spent 4 years at West Point, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He also spent a month at the British Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. On Jan. 1, 2011, Jordan reported for duty at Ft. Benning, Ga. for Infantry Training.  In April, he reported to Ft. Drum, N.Y. where he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.  On May 5, 2011, Spc. Morris deployed for Afghanistan.

Jordan Morris was a simple man.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, rock climbing, hunting, playing baseball, or playing with his little brothers.  Jordan was the world’s best big brother and a great example for his brothers to look up to.  He was extremely witty, completely selfless and unselfish.  Jordan was thoughtful, humble, confident, independent, and he always played well with others.  Jordan loved the Lord and this was reflected in the way he lived his everyday life.  Those who knew Jordan will miss him dearly, but celebrate in the knowledge that he has gone on to his promised reward.

Jordan Morris was brave and courageous.  He knew and understood the dangers of his calling, yet he chose to follow the path that was laid before him.  He was a patriot who loved God and Country and ultimately sacrificed his life so that others would know the freedom he knew.  Jordan was an amazing brother, a loving son, a loyal friend, and a brave soldier.  He will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.  His legacy will undoubtedly live on through the lives of his two brothers and by the soldiers he served side-by-side with during his deployment.

Spc. Jordan Morris is survived by his parents: Brett and Nita Morris, of Stillwater.  Two brothers: Levi James and Jesse Isaac Morris, of Stillwater.  Grandparents: Wilma Faber, of Tulsa,  James and Patricia Morris, of Broken Arrow.  Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, as well as his former West Point classmates and fellow soldiers in the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.

Jordan was welcomed to heaven by his grandfather, William Faber.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jordan Morris Memorial Fund at any Bancfirst location.

Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com or on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/pmcfh
