Deloris Inez Sanders

Deloris Inez Sanders, 79, died on Thursday, April 11, 2013, in Stillwater. On Nov. 23, 1933, Deloris was born in Salem, Ore., to Kenneth Burr and Thelma Irene (Wilson) Griffin. After graduating from Salem High School in 1951, she married Robert “Bob” Angus Sanders in Vancouver, Wash. She was very active in the Methodist Women’s Group and other church activities for Oak Grove Methodist Church when the family lived in Milwaukee and Oregon City. She was also heavily involved in school activities with her six children and was a PTA member for 25 years due to the spacing age of her sons and daughters.

Deloris considered raising six children a wonderful challenge, and as they grew older and became successful on their own she remembered the good, bad and funny times that made them a family.

She loved doing things with and for her grandchildren, and she just liked people in general.  She enjoyed baking for her community, church and family.

She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, gadgets, puns, and, when she was younger, trying many different things. Deloris was a very good bridge player and loved participating with the local bridge clubs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Deloris is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Dolly Rae Beaudoin, of Vancouver, Wash.; son, Mikel Robert Sanders, of Scappose, Ore.; daughter, Nancy Sue Jones, of Leary, Ga.; daughter, Cherie Zelima Carter, of Maramec; son, Robert Walter Sanders, of Grangeville, Ida.; daughter, Karen Michele Sevores, of Des Moines, Wash.; nine grandchildren: Mikel Rolison, Katie Rolison, Cassy Sanders, Linette Zelima Cox, Charles Burgamy, Scarlett Burgamy Wade, Shelly Sevores, Nicholas Sevores, Kara Zelima Sanders, Max Sanders and several great grandchildren; brother, Albert Griffin, of Deer Park, Wash.; brother, Bobby Griffin, of Golden Valley, Minn.; and many more family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in Deloris' name to Wings of Hope Family Crisis Center at 3800 N. Washington, Stillwater, 74075; or First United Methodist Church at 400 W. 7th Ave., Stillwater, 74074.
