Jack Dean Palmer, longtime resident of Pawnee, passed away on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Blackwell. Jack (or Red as many knew him) was born on Sept. 16, 1920, in Hanna, to Al Palmer and Ollie Clifton Palmer. He married Viola Stolhand Ware on May 29, 1944, and she preceded him in death. On Nov. 22, 1945. he was honorably discharged from the Army. He left the Army with the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, WWII Victory Ribbon, One Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He served 18 months in France, Germany, Belgium, and Holland.
Jack wore many hats during his life as a Farmer, Palmer Trucking Co., and Palmer Custom Combining, just to name a few. Jack bought and sold anything that had wheels.
Jack is survived by brother, Paul Palmer and his wife, Rachel, Chimacum, Wash. sister, Maxine Palmer, Wash.; three sons, Bill Palmer and his wife, Pam, Ponca City, Jim Ware and his wife, Virginia, Pawnee, Herman Ware amd his wife, Judy, Pawnee; grandchildren: Billy Palmer and his wife, Sara, Ponca City, Cindy Palmer Burgesss and her husband, Tony, Ponca City, Teresa Ware Rhynard and her husband, Rick, Ponca City, Debra Ware Turner and her husband Terry, Pawnee, Jack Ware and his wife, Pam, Pawnee, Jimmy Ware and his wife, Beverly, Maramec, Carma Ware Lujan and her husband, John, Kansas City, Mo.; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren
Plus a number of other relatives, and many friends.
Besides his wife, Viola, he was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Ollie Palmer; brothers, Earl Palmer, Botley Palmer, Hubert Palmer; son, John Palmer; and his grandson, Larry Ware.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Poteet Funeral Chapel, Pawnee. Memorials may be made in memory of Jack to Albright Methodist Church, 128 S Palm, Ponca City, OK 74601
