David Michael Anthony Minahan, 56, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, in Stillwater after a long struggle relating to Multiple Sclerosis. Family will greet friends on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Strode Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., after which David and his family will be returning home to West Virginia for services the following week. Interment will be at Elk Hills Memorial Park in Big Chimney, W. Va. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
On Dec. 15, 1956, David was born to the late Vincent Emmet and Bridget (Joyce) Minahan in Oxford, England.
He attended The University of Manchester in Great Britain where he received his bachelor’s degree, Auburn University where he earned his Ph.D. in chemistry, and performed his post-doctoral work at Ohio State University. David was employed as a research chemist for Conoco Phillips. He married Jill R. (Jordan) McCorey on June 14, 2000, in Giles County, Va.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Peter James Gerald Minahan; and beloved aunts, Edna and Teresa Minahan.
He is survived by his wife, Jill McCorey-Minahan, of Stillwater; daughter, Sarah Margaret Lambert, and her husband, Michael, of Morgantown, W. Va.; daughter, Rachel Bridget Minahan, of Morgantown, W. Va.; son, Michael Vincent Frederick Minahan, of Blairsville, Ga.; step-daughter, Lauren Nichole McCorey, and her fiancé, Jerry Wakeley, of Choctaw; step-son, William Edward McCorey, and his fiancée, Meg Bryant, of Richmond, Va.; grandson, Michael Lambert Jr., of Morgantown, W. Va.; and granddaughter, Jocelyn Keelee McCorey, of Choctaw. He is also survived by his late brother Peter’s family in England.
