Velma Garrison McFarlin

Velma Garrison McFarlin, age 78 of Parkland, Okla., passed away on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at her home.  She was a faithful member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn and assembled in Carney, Okla.   Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at the Carney General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn.  Brother Leonard Holman will officiate.  Interment will be held at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Okla.  Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Okla.

 Velma was born on April 19, 1934 in Armada, Ark. to Loomis Pete and Elsie Eva (Rutherford) Garrison.  They lived in Ark. for the first nine years of her life.  They moved to Fresno, Calif. in 1943 where she lived with her parents until she was united in marriage to Henry McFarlin on Feb. 11, 1952 by Brother Cecil Rossiter.  They made their home in Calif. most of the time until they moved to Okla. on June 15, 1975.

 She was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn at Three Rivers near Tulare California on Sept. 15, 1951 by Brother Bobby Wittman.

 Velma is survived by her five sons Lawrence McFarlin and wife Joanne of Parkland, Darell McFarlin and wife Joni of Stillwater, Gilbert McFarlin and wife Tama of Morrison, Albert McFarlin and wife Suzie of Agra, Steve McFarlin and wife Sharon of Carney, brothers Alfred Garrison of Calif., Harold Garrison and wife Betty of Calif., Gene Garrison and wife Ann of Wetumpka, Okla., sister Lula Combs of Calif., sister-in-law Michelle Garrison of Bakersfield, Calif.,  17grandchildren and a slue of great grandchildren and a host of friends and brethren.

 Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Elsie Garrison, two sisters Sarah Thornblad and Marie Danz, three brothers Chuck, Henry and Bud Garrison, and grandchildren Eric Perkins and Lora McFarlin and her husband Henry McFarlin of 44 years of marriage.
