Stephen R. Shiever, 95, of Morrison, Okla., was the son of Stephen and Emma (Just) Shiever. He was born on Sept. 29, 1917 in Morrison, Okla. and died, after a battle with pneumonia on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 a few weeks after celebrating his 95th birthday with family, friends and employees of Grace Living Center.
Steve was a control tower operator in the Air Force during World War II and decided to return to being a rural letter carrier for thirty-five years as well as farming and ranching.
On July 25, 1942 Steve married his sweetheart and best friend Ethel Deloris Cowell at the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, Okla. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2009.
He was also very active in the Christ Lutheran Church, serving in many positions and as a choir member for 40 years.
Steve’s many hobbies included raising and taking care of show hogs, cattle, chickens and many pets, his pastime was mowing grass on his John Deere mower.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Mon., Oct. 29, 2012 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, Okla. Rev. William Metz will officiate. Interment will be at Morrison Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Grace Living Center in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077.
Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sun., Oct. 28, 2012 at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.
Steve is survived by his three sons, Stephen C. Shiever and his wife, Cindy of Crescent, Okla., Randy Shiever and his wife, Lonna of Morrison, Okla., Vance Shiever and his wife, Linda of Morrison, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Stephen Shawn Shiever and his wife, Tracy of Alva, Okla., Matthew Shiever and his wife, Trisha of Kansas City, Kan., Mitchel Shiever and his wife, Jan of Edmond, Okla., Jason Shiever and his wife, Kia of Oklahoma City, Okla., Justin Shiever and his wife, Lane of Murray, Kentucky, Lindsey (Shiever) Buckminster and her husband, Seth of Ft. Worth, Texas and Beau Shiever and his wife, Alicia of Edmond, Okla.; eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ethel and his parents, Stephen and Emma Shiever.
