Betty Elizabeth (Borders) McNamer

Betty Elizabeth (Borders) McNamer, 76, of Perkins passed peacefully from this life on Feb. 21, 2013, with her family by her side. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater with Pastor Rick Alexander, Rev. Jerry Sparkman and Pastor Lonnie McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow at Coyle Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Betty was born on Aug. 30, 1936, in Alamo, Tenn., to Willie Levi and Bertha Gertrude (Emerson) Borders. She was one of 10 siblings. She married Theodore “Ted” Wesley McNamer on Dec. 12, 1955, in Corinth, Miss. They lovingly raised two children and enjoyed over 57 years of marriage.

It is impossible to count the number of lives Betty touched in her 76 years. She was devoted to making life better for others, and would welcome anyone into her home. She loved her family and friends, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Betty enjoyed reading, visiting with friends and family, sewing, and gardening, and she loved angels.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jimmy, Lee, and Charles Borders; and one sister, Kay Borders.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Bertha Short; and son, Wesley McNamer, and wife, Marie; five grandchildren: Derek Short and his wife, Shila, Wesley McNamer Jr. and his wife, Shayla, Krystal Smola and her husband, Justin, Amanda Calvert and her husband, Justin, and Michael McNamer and his wife, Crystal; and 10 great-grandchildren: Jaylah and Hunter Short, Eli, Ryvers, Raegan, Kyla McNamer, Laken Smola, Elizabeth Stokes, Van Calvert and Michael Dobbins.  She is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn Hutcherson, and her husband, Darrell, and Kathy Hutchinson; and three brothers, Jerry Borders, Billy Borders, and Larry Borders, and his wife, Janie.

Pallbearers will be Derek Short, Wesley McNamer, Jr., Michael McNamer, Justin Smola, Gene McKee and Josh McKee.
