Marian Rardin Spiva

Marian Rardin Spiva, age 91 of Ripley, passed away on Feb, 28, 2013, at the Stillwater Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mehan Union Church in Stillwater with Rev. Larry Eslinger officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.

Marian was born on May 21, 1921, in Stillwater to the late Charles Wilford Johnson and Anna Jenkins. She grew up in Stillwater and graduated from Stillwater High School.

Marian married Ira Alvin Rardin on Dec. 21, 1941, in Reno, Nev. They had three children, Frank, Bob and Kay. Making their home and raising their family in Fairfield, Calif. and Willow Creek, Ore., Marian worked in sales for many years and at the base exchange on Travis Air Force Base. Her husband preceded her in death in 1981.

Marrying J.C. Spiva on Sept.  4, 1993, in Reno, Nev., they made their home in Ripley, Okla. Marian was an avid reader and enjoyed walking and gardening. They liked spending time with their families and one another.

She is survived by her husband J.C. Spiva of the home, children Frank Rardin and wife, Bonnie of Fernley, Nev., Bob Rardin and wife, Anette of Redding, Calif., Jane Dooley and husband, Sam of Pryor, Sherry Gazaway and Jack of Stillwater, Glen Spiva and wife, Diana of Ripley, and Connie Lewis of Ripley. She had 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.   

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin; daughter Kay; brothers Clifford, Hugh, and Charles Johnson, and sisters, Ruth, Annabel, and        Dolores.  

Donations in her honor may be made to Mehan Union Church, 8300 E. 68th Street, Stillwater, OK 74074.
